We Have This Hope
WHTH exists to equip others in the art of remembering God’s work and the discipline of telling our stories. We share essays and other written work with a memoir-style bent toward remembering, studying scripture, and life with God. We also collect stories from individuals reflecting backward on a particular season, event, or experience through the lens of hope in Christ. These stories are captured interview-style via the podcast.
The Art of Remembering
Scripture is filled with God’s call for us to remember not only what He has done in the past, but also what He has promised to do in the future. Remembering as a discipline can anchor us to God’s promises in a way that is transformative in our everyday lives and allows us to live with hope.
The Practice of Storytelling
Our stories matter and when we tell them we find ourselves in the center of the mystery and goodness of God’s story. Scripture is God modeling this practice for us, telling us of His plan for the world through the story of the Israelites, the life of Christ, and the birth of the Church. When we hear and remember God’s work in the lives of others, we are emboldened to press on in the beautiful work of going slowly in the same direction—belonging to a faithful community and bearing witness to God’s good work among it.
Meet Emily
Hi friend, I am the voice and the words behind We Have This Hope. This space is the overflow of a long journey following God and the intersection of all the things I care deeply about—hope, grief, honest words, stories, and scripture. I’m a licensed clinical social worker with a background in mental health and medical social work. This will show up occasionally in some of the content here. I’m also a wife and mother to 3 wild and wonderful kids who keep my calendar and heart very full. When I’m not collecting stories, raising humans or studying scripture, you can find me with an iced coffee and earbuds in listening to an embarrassingly broad assortment of podcasts. I’m so very grateful you’re here.
