This week I’m speaking to the women of our church who are gathering to share a meal and build community. My friend Holly asked me if I’d be willing to speak and it was an easy “yes” because it’s basically the trifecta of things I love: being with other women, the church, and talking about the Bible. And this particular group is my people, you know? My people who make it safe for me to speak with the confidence that someone will tell me if I have food in my teeth and who will not judge me for asking to bum their printer about an hour before the event because who even knows where mine is given the current state of our garage right now?1
Because this is a gathering of women, I’m doing something very predictable and I’m talking about women. Anytime I prepare for an episode or an event where I’m doing the bulk of the talking, I start with a basic question: what does scripture say about this? I do this partly because I love the investigation of it all, but mostly because scripture seems to always answer the question…or a raise new/better one. Prepping to answer the question “what does scripture say about women in relationship to each other and to the church?” was a total delight. I love this topic. It lights me up and make me hold back tears when I try to explain what I’m learning to my half-listening daughters at dinner. Surely one day they’ll appreciate my mini-pep talks.
Anyway, the preparation had me wanting to revisit past episodes about women so today’s Collections & Conversations is simply a collection of past episodes where we’ve explored the idea of women in scripture and a conversation with one of my all time favorite women on the planet: Amy Ann Arnold. I hope you’ll take the time to re-listen, re-enjoy, re-ask, and re-engage!

If you’d like to listen or just want to continue supporting We Have This Work, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. You’ll be the first to access any new content including guided Bible study content rolling out later this year and you’ll always have access to the full collection of episodes like the ones linked above.
A tree fell on our house in June. Our garage is essentially a dust-filled storage unit right now.
