Summer Morning Series: Intro to James (July Rewind)

old favorites coming your way for the month of July

This all started as a podcast. This being We Have This Hope.

Perhaps it’d be more accurate to say that it actually started as a subtle tap on the shoulder that wouldn’t go away that became a speaking opportunity at my church that became me crying in the pews while someone I hardly knew looked me dead in the eyes and said “You need to keep doing this—I’m serious.

A month later I was signed up for a coaching program through

and the folks at Go + Tell Galls. This felt like such a significant step for me—actually admitting that I felt called to something I had yet to fully discern. And it gave me the courage to start a podcast that I had hoped would supplement some of the teaching I was doing at my local church and help me practice, practice, practice.

Good grief, it has done more than help me practice. For now I’ll spare you the details on how its challenged me, delighted me, and connected me with the most beautiful people whose stories give witness to a God who holds all the precious details of our lives together. And I’ll remind myself that this all started with my first love—the study of Scripture—and my intent is for that always to be at the forefront of what I do.

Here’s an oldie, but a goodie. Two years ago I did a series on the book of James. Each episode hovered around twenty minutes with the idea that you could listen on a walk or driving to work or home from carpool or whatever it is that you do. Some of this content is reserved for paid subscribers, but the introduction is available to anyone now.

Send me a note if you’d like access to the rest of it or feel free to upgrade to a paid subscriber. Think of it as a tip—or a grande iced caramel macchiato to fuel more writing. And lastly…do not, I repeat, do not judge the post-production quality from two years ago…I cringe.
